Eileen Duehr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Behr's Funeral Home on Feb. 28, 2026.
Eileen C. Duehr, age 94, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully at Bethany Home, on Friday, February 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. To celebrate Eileen's life, family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, where there will be a parish scripture wake service held at 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church, 2921 Central Avenue, with Rev. Raymond A. Burkle and Deacon David Roth officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Eileen was born on December 10, 1931, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence P. and Clara A. (Wagner) Heri.

Eileen went to grade school at Five Points and Rickardsville and graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy, Class of 1950. She looked forward to attending class reunions and the monthly luncheons at the Village Inn with her former classmates for several years. When she was young, Eileen worked at the Dubuque Packing Company for 4 years and later as an Avon Representative for several years. She married Herbert M. Duehr on August 5, 1952, at St. Joseph's Church in Rickardsville. They had 3 children together and celebrated 61 years of marriage before he sadly passed away on August 12, 2013. Eileen's primary focus was always being a great wife, mom and homemaker. She was a devoted Catholic and has been a member of Holy Ghost Church and Rosary Society since 1952. Eileen also participated in A.C.C.W. She was an accomplished seamstress, and took on many sewing and alteration projects for people. Eileen also liked to knit and create beautiful quilts. She was excellent in the kitchen, and her baked goods were "to die for". Her family truly brought Eileen the greatest joy. She loved family gatherings, visits and phone calls catching up on the latest events. She was a wonderful woman who always made people feel welcome and special. Eileen will be greatly missed.
