Eileen M. (Wilcox) Flynn
September 30, 1944 – October 26, 2025
Eileen M. (Wilcox) Flynn, 81, a longtime resident of North Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Residence at Freeman Lake, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Francis "Steve" Flynn, with whom she shared 51 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on September 30, 1944, Eileen was the daughter of the late Edward and Ruth (Hill) Wilcox. She was raised in Somerville and Arlington and graduated from St. Clement School before earning her nursing degree from the Lawrence Memorial School of Nursing.
In 1971, Eileen and Steve settled in North Chelmsford, where they raised their family and became active members of the community. Eileen devoted her life to caring for others-first as an emergency nurse, then as a school nurse in the Tyngsborough School System, where she served for more than 30 years. Her compassion, warmth, and professionalism left a lasting impression on students, colleagues, and families alike.
The heart of her family, Eileen created a home filled with love, tradition, and laughter. Every holiday and gathering reflected her thoughtfulness and joy in bringing people together. She and Steve shared a love of travel, adventure, and the simple pleasure of spending time with family and friends.
Eileen's greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her children Steven Flynn and his wife Christina of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, Robert Flynn and his wife Nicole of Groton, and Karen (Flynn) Balestrieri and her husband Glen of Hollis, NH. She was a devoted grandmother to Regan, Taylor, Abigail, Alexandra, Robert Jr., Shaun, and Jack Flynn, and Henry and Isabella Balestrieri-each of whom she adored and supported with endless love.
She also leaves behind her sister, Barbara Keefe of Harwich; many beloved nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends who enriched her life with laughter and companionship.
During Eileen's final year at the Residence at Freeman Lake, she was lovingly cared for by a team of devoted staff whose empathy, compassion, and unwavering dedication brought her peace and joy. They treated her not just as a resident, but as someone deeply loved - surrounding her with kindness, laughter, and care that her family will forever be grateful for.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Nancy Dowling, her brother-in-law John Keefe, and her sisters-and brothers-in-law Mary and Joe Findlen, and Lynn and Jack Flynn.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11am at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 115 Middlesex Street, North Chelmsford. KINDLY MEET AT THE CHURCH.
