Eileen May Garinger, age 95, of Sugar Run, PA, passed away on Friday morning, April 11, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Eileen was born on July 2, 1929, in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Earle Francis and Eleanora Annie Walker Warrell. She attended school in the Dallas and Lake Lehman School system.

She married Wesley Allen Garinger Sr. on September 16, 1948, in Elkton, MD. Wesley passed away on December 14, 1994.

The Garinger family lived in different parts of Luzerne County, until moving to Wilmot Twp., Bradford County in 1967.

Eileen was a homemaker and the matriarch of her family. Alongside her husband, they raised thirteen children. For several years she worked at Kelly Services within Procter and Gamble. She also worked at Swingles Upholstery, with her  companion Jim Swingle. They enjoyed each others company until Jim passed away on November 28th, 2001.

She was a member of the Moxie Community Church, where she played the piano and organ for several years.

She enjoyed sewing, crafting, fishing, and gardening. She also enjoyed canning her own food and taking care of all of her flowers. She also looked forward to playing BINGO and especially looked forward to Sunday family dinners. Eileen was also an animal lover and really liked to cook and bake. However her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents, husband, and companion James Swingle Sr., she was predeceased by a daughter Elizabeth Jane Carter on August 10, 2015, a son-in-law David J. Wilson on March 30, 2024, and a daughter-in-law Beverly Garinger on May 9, 2011. She was also predeceased by an infant son David Allen Garinger and grandsons: Jason Lant on March 31, 2015, Kenneth Bartholomew on August 11, 2024, and Michael Garinger on January 25, 2021, step granddaughters: Jimmie Jo Grover on April 30, 2019, and Debra DeTurck on February 12, 2022, great granddaughter Breanna Bonick, and a great great grandson Daryl Scott Merritt. She was also predeceased by her siblings: Ralph Warrell, Kenneth Warrell, Milton Warrell, Robert Warrell, George Warrell, Rogie McCulloch, Shirley Veltri, Nellie Bell, and Helen Blackshire.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 5:00 PM in the Moxie Community Church, with her pastor, Rev. Jay Bucci officiating. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 3:00 PM until the start of the service at 5:00 PM in the Moxie Community Church.
