Eileen Theresa (O’Hanlon) Heeb, 90, passed away on December 3, 2024. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home in Stokesdale, NC surrounded by family.

Eileen was born in Astoria, NY on January 2, 1934 to Christina (Brannigan) and Patrick Francis O’Hanlon. The family moved to Ireland in 1939, and Eileen remained there until adulthood. Having returned to New York City as an adult, she met the love of her life, John Joseph Heeb, Jr., on November 3, 1956. They courted, fell in love, and married on October 4, 1958. They welcomed four children, Maureen (Randy), John (Julia), Eileen (Rick), and Patrick (Jodi). Eileen was a grandmother to seven, Ryan (Katie), Mary, Ashley, Elizabeth, Brandon, Sarah, and Patrick. She was a step-grandmother to three, Ricky (Brittany), Spencer (Jamie), and Mitchell. She was a great grandmother to Sophia and Oaklyn and was excitedly awaiting the upcoming arrival of twin great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband, John, and grandson, Mitchell. She is survived by one brother, Patrick O’Hanlon, her younger sister, Sr. Maureen O’Hanlon, one brother-in-law, Martin Heeb, and one sister-in-law, Bernadette O’Hanlon, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Eileen was a retired New York State employee, having retired from Rockland Community College in Suffern, NY. She was passionate about her commitment to her Catholic faith and her children’s education. She served on the League of Catholic Mothers as well as participated in her service to Girl Scouts of America. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kernersville, NC where she was a Columbiette, and as a member of the Weavers of Comfort, she crocheted prayer shawls for fellow parishioners. She was an avid reader and gardener. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and worked on the same puzzle with her son, Patrick, by sending text messages to each other.

Eileen was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others. Now that she has passed into the arms of the Lord, her physical life on Earth is over, but it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her.
