Michael "Mike" Louis Heeb, 99, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 07, 2026.
Mike was born to Carl and Verna Koepnick Heeb on March 31, 1926 in
Dayton, Ohio. He moved to Louisville as a child. He graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1944. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Louisville. He had an exceptional thirty-five year career as an executive at General Electric.
He married the love of his life, Patricia Ruhl, in July 1953. They were blessed with seven children. Their marriage of 66 years was a lasting partnership rooted in love, commitment, and shared faith. Patricia preceded him in death. He now rejoins her after a lifetime of shared memories and devotion.
Mike's life reflected enduring values of faith, family, and integrity. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who was admired and loved by his family and friends. Mike's greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Most visits with him would involve playing cards or his favorite game of Yahtzee. He won his final game of Yahtzee this past Christmas. Those games provided moments filled with laughter, friendly competition, and lasting memories.
Mike had a lifelong passion for model trains, jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed reading and keeping current with all of his family's activities.
Mike was a founding member of St. Martha Parish. He served in numerous leadership roles in both the church and school. He was active in various groups within the parish community and cherished the friendships that were made through these ministries. Additionally, he held many leadership positions with his children's activities during their youth.
Mike's legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, parish community, and all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, his parents, and two brothers, Carl and Robert.
Mike is survived by his children, Lou (Betty), John (Judy), Bill, Dick (Jody), Barbara Smith (Denny), Tom (Sherry), and Mike (Jan), 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; and one surviving sibling, Brother Jim Heeb, SVD.
Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00am, Monday, January 12, 2026, at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2825 Klondike Lane. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 5:00pm Sunday, January 11, at Ratterman & Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road.
