Eileen McLaughlin

Eileen McLaughlin, age 98, passed away peacefully on December 21st. She left behind a legacy of faith, learning and devotion to family.
Eileen was a lifelong educator whose passion for science and teaching shaped generations of students. She graduated as valedictorian from Villa Maria College, and later earned her master's degree in Chemistry from Edinboro University. She dedicated her career to teaching where she was known for her intellect, discipline and encouragement of young minds.
A woman of unwavering faith, Eileen was deeply Catholic. Her spirituality guided every aspect of her life. Above all Eileen was devoted to her family. Her life was defined by her commitment to her children and to the values she passed down - Faith, Integrity, & Accomplishment.
Eileen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim, and her daughters, Michele (Mark) Suprunowicz and Cynthia McLaughlin.
She is survived by her daughter, Colleen (Larry) Hammon; her sons, Marc and Kyle (Elizabeth); her sister, Elaine (Frank) Mozdy; along with grandchildren ( Craig, Erin, Matt, Tara, Seth, Ilana, Brendan, Ryan, Aidan, Lauren, & Jonny) and great-grandchildren (Taylor, Skylar & Tatum) in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on December 23rd at St. Jude’s the Apostle Church, 2801 W 6th St. Family and friends are invited to join in a Celebration of Life honoring Eileen on March 14, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania, whose mission reflected the values Eileen held dear.
