Eileen Medeiros Obituary
Eileen Kyle Medeiros (Eldridge), 66, of Salisbury, NC passed away at home on Saturday, January 27, 2024, due to complications from lung cancer. Eileen was a loving wife and devoted mother to her husband Flavio and her two daughters Mandi and Tammy. Born in Red Bank, NJ, to Teresa (Reilly) and Harold Eldridge, she grew up in Marlboro, NJ with her four brothers and sister. She was still very close friends with the women she grew up with, the "Marlboro Girls". She worked for the United States Postal Service for 26 years. She forged many lifelong friendships working at the Englishtown, Manalapan, and Jackson, NJ post offices.
Eileen met her husband Flavio at a dance club in the late eighties. They were together for 34 years and married for 24 and made a great team. They moved to Salisbury, NC for warmer weather and to enjoy life in their dream home. They settled in a lovely neighborhood and developed new friendships with amazing neighbors. Eileen was an avid gardener. She eagerly awaited spring every year to start planting beautiful flowers and plants in her gardens and yard. Eileen loved the holidays and decorated her house for every single one. She especially loved Halloween and Christmas.
Eileen was a talented artist. She could draw, paint, and created the most beautiful glass garden sculptures. She was incredibly selfless, always helping her family and friends. She sacrificed so much as a young single mother for her two daughters. Even while battling her own illness, she took care of her uncle and daughter through theirs. She was so very thoughtful, always getting little gifts for her nieces and nephews and their children. She hosted many family gatherings and holidays and made them special, festive, and fun. Her Christmas brunch is infamous amongst our family and friends and something we will remember fondly. Eileen loved music and always said it was all about the beat and loved to dance. She and her brother Keith were known to tear up the dance floor at family weddings.
She is survived by her husband Flavio of North Carolina; her daughter and son-in-law, Mandi and John Lermond of Delaware; her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin and Karen Eldridge of Florida and Greg and Linda Eldridge of Montana; her sister and brother-in-law, Shannon and Bruce Gravatt of NJ; her sisters-in-law, Karen Eldridge of New Jersey and Susan Eldridge of New Jersey; and her mother, Teresa Eldridge of New Jersey. She was predeceased by her father Harold, her brother Bryan, her brother Keith, and her daughter Tammy.
Eileen's family and friends will miss her laugh, her gentle and selfless ways, her love and support, and her incredible work ethic.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to your local Planned Parenthood or CVAN (Cabarrus Victims Assistance Network) in Concord, NC.
