Elaine Adell (Schmidt) DeZeeuw, 89, resident of Manitowoc, passed away on January 16, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on February 4, 1935, to the late Julia (Reynolds) and Arthur Schmidt. Elaine graduated from Mishicot High School. On January 28, 1955, she married Peter DeZeeuw. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2005.
Elaine led a very active life, caring for her grandchildren, taking care of her flowers, lawn and home, and playing tennis and pickleball into her late 80's, until the rages of Parkinson's made her hang up her racket.
Elaine leaves behind sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Julie and Mark and Robin, cherished grandchildren, Alex and Zoe, brothers Don (Vicky) Schmidt and Gary Schmidt, sister-in-law Marcie Schmidt, and other family and friends who will all miss her so very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, sisters and brothers-in-law Betty and Mick Pickard and Pat and Bob Roedig, and brother Bernie Schmidt.
Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a life celebration social will occur from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025 at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 N. Water Street, Manitowoc.
The family would like to extend our special thanks to Kimberly, Stephanie, Kristin and all the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for the loving care and support they provided Elaine and the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in memory of Elaine. More information can be found at www.ssrhospicehome.org.

January 28, 2025

Just wanted to send our condolences and prayers to the family, from Theresa and Jim Harder family whom lived on Blue Heron Rd and enjoyed taking walks with our grandchildren down to the turn around circle by her home and admiring how beautiful the country life was in our area. Jeff her son, has also helped us out with his time and tractor in our fields which we appreciated very much. Take care and sorry for your loss.
We also loss Jim's father William (Bill) Harder in December 2024 due to health issues.
