DURHAM –Elaine Durham, 77, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 at her home. She was born in Durham, to the late Woodrow Wilson Evans and Dovie Marks Evans. In addition to her parents, she is also predeceased by her husband, James B. Durham; sisters, Sue Edwards, Jean Holmes, Joan Abercrombie; brothers, Johnny Evans, Robert Evans, and Edward Evans.

Elaine enjoyed spending lots of time with both of her grandchildren and her many sisters. She also enjoyed gardening and taking care of all the flowers and plants that surrounded her home

Mrs. Durham is survived by her daughter, Ashley Durham (Jason Harris); grandchildren, Palmer Harris and Peyton Harris; sisters, Billie Horne, Shirley Hodges, Rachel Clements, Louise Griffin, and Mickie Hill. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 11 am on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 2107 Liberty St, Durham, NC 27703. Pastor Charlie McNeill will be officiating.

Elaine was a beautiful teenager and so sweet. My cousin lived next door to Elaine´s family and we thought she and her boyfriend were a beautiful couple. I lived on Dubarry for a while and Elaine was still just as beautiful and sweet as she was as a teenager.
