CLEVELAND- Elaine Claire Fletcher of Cleveland, age 83, passed away at home with family by her side on Saturday, July 20, 2024. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and part-time comedian to all.
Elaine was born in Nashua, New Hampshire to Emile and Thelma Anctil on October 28, 1940. She was raised in Nashua along with seven brothers and one sister who affectionately called her "sis." It was there that she also met the love of her life and went on to marry, Donald Erickson Fletcher on June 14, 1958. They shared 47 years together until Don's passing on October 13, 2005. (I am sure their reunion was wonderful!) Elaine and Don had four children.
She worked at Country Corner in Cleveland for many years; this is where many of you from Cleveland and Elmo got to know her. No matter how her day was going she was a bright friendly face to all. This is where she won the hearts of so many children; she would let them have "free" Red Fish. She would place her spare change in the cash register to cover the cost without them knowing it. She loved making people laugh, whether it was her quick wit or telling the grandkids and great-grandkids her corny "dad" jokes after feeding them sweet sugary treats.
Elaine is survived by her children, Donald, Scott, Randy, and Sherrie; three brothers, Earnest, Roger, and Leon; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Donald Fletcher; her parents; three brothers; one sister; and grandson, Bradley Fletcher.
The family wishes to express their many thanks to the staff at Community Nursing Services in Price and especially to Elaine's aide, Kya for the loving and compassionate care that has been shown.
Graveside service, Friday, August 2, 2024, 11:00 a.m., Cleveland Town Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the Cleveland Ward Chapel (350 West 40 North) in Cleveland. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Elaine online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
