Elaine Harrington (Collins) died February 16, 2025 in her home of 57 years in Federal Way surrounded by family. Elaine was born to John & Hilda Collins on January 9, 1928 in Seattle, Wa. She was the 7th out of 9 children. Her mom died when she was 17 and her Dad when she was 6, so she spent many years with her sisters.
She graduated from Franklin High School in 1946. She married the love of her life, Jim Harrington, on April 23, 1949. They were married 67 years when Jim passed in 2016. Jim & Elaine had 2 daughters, Susan and Cynthia. Elaine retired from Mill Mutuals as Office Manager in Seattle on February 1, 1990. Her passion was her family and her faith. She was an ordained Elder at Community of Christ where she served with her husband Jim for most of their married lives. She loved people fiercely. Every grandchild, great grandchild, family or friend would attest to that.
Elaine is survived by daughter Susan (Joe), brother in law Kevin, Grandchildren Jason (Christy), Jeff (Christel), Shannon (Pete), Jodi, Tara (Alex), and Cameron (Lin). Great grandchildren Eric, Olivia, Elijah, Holden, and Shiloh. Elaine is preceded in death by daughter Cynthia and grandson James.
A memorial service will be held at The Washington Memorial Park Chapel on March 5 at 12:30 to 2:00 pm. Graveside service will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
