Katherine Mary Goucher, a beacon of strength and kindness, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, in Des Moines, Washington, at the age of 85. Born on May 4, 1940, in Seattle, Katherine's life was a testament to faith, love, and laughter.

She attended Central Washington University, where she developed a lifelong love of learning and forged friendships that endured through the years. Guided by her Christian faith, Katherine devoted herself to serving others. An active member of her church, she shared her musical talents by playing bells in the choir and joyfully supported countless church and community endeavors with her generosity.

Family was the heart of Katherine's world. She is survived by her sister, Helen Schafer; her sons, Robert and Steven Goucher; her grandchildren, Taylor and Amanda; and her great-grandchildren, Grace and Eli. Each of them benefited from her wisdom, compassion, and boundless love.

Katherine's passions reflected her vibrant spirit. A devoted Seattle sports fan, she never missed a chance to cheer on her favorite teams, whether from the stands or at home. She took equal joy in supporting her children and grandchildren in their athletic pursuits, always their most loyal fan. Dancing and music brought her immense happiness, especially karaoke nights with her longtime companion, Gerry. Her competitive side found a playful outlet in card games, where her spirited nature and humor always shone.

Often described as "tough as nails"-a strength earned while raising two boys-Katherine balanced resilience with deep compassion. Her quick wit, warm smile, and infectious laughter lit up every gathering, making everyone feel welcome and at ease.

Katherine Mary Goucher will be remembered for her unwavering love, her generosity of spirit, and her remarkable ability to bring joy to others. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and in the countless lives she touched with kindness and grace. As we say farewell, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and an enduring light that continues to inspire.

The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to Seattle Children's Hospital.
