Elaine Martha Muller (née Scott), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother ("Nanny"), friend, and cherished companion to many lifelong friends, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at the age of 77.
Born on August 22, 1948, in Queens, New York, Elaine was the cherished daughter of Lillian and Thomas Scott and the loving sister of Lillian, all of whom predeceased her. After moving to Bergenfield, New Jersey, she made it her lifelong home, dedicating herself to her family, her faith, and her calling to care for others.
A proud graduate of Mountainside Nursing School, Elaine spent her career as a compassionate and skilled ICU nurse. She went above and beyond to ensure her patients were cared for, respected, and loved, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Elaine's faith was the foundation of her life. A longtime member of Clinton Avenue Reformed Church in Bergenfield, she served faithfully on the Consistory and as an Elder, guiding others with grace, wisdom, and humility. She lived her beliefs through her kindness, generosity, and the gentle love she shared with everyone around her.
Elaine was the wife of Raymond Muller. Together they shared nearly 54 years of marriage, built a home in Bergenfield, and raised a family filled with love, faith, and devotion.
She was the devoted mother of Jeffrey Muller and his wife, Erica Muller, and Jennifer Muller Laterra and her husband, Chris Laterra. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, Dylan, Lillian, Rachel, and Adam, whom she adored and nurtured as their beloved "Nanny."
Elaine was a calm and steady presence, offering wisdom, patience, and optimism to all who knew her. She valued friendship deeply and maintained close relationships with many lifelong friends, who brought joy, laughter, and support into her life. She taught her children and grandchildren to see the silver lining in people and situations and to approach life with gratitude and love. Her easygoing nature and joy in simple pleasures were admired by everyone who knew her.
Her laughter, warmth, friendship, and devotion leave a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at Barrett Funeral Home in Tenafly, New Jersey.
The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 9:30 AM at Clinton Avenue Reformed Church in Bergenfield, New Jersey.
Burial will follow on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elaine's name to the Adler Aphasia Center in Maywood, New Jersey.
