Elaine Elizabeth (Arbaugh) Munson, 97 of Fennville, MI (formerly of Webster City, Iowa), passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 surrounded by her family. Memorial graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church Cemetery southeast of Kamrar, with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m.. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.
Elaine was born April 5, 1926 on the Monroe family farm south of Webster City, Iowa. Her parents were Raymond Arbaugh and Helen Monroe Arbaugh. Elaine attended Union country school and graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1943. Following graduation, she began work at the First State Bank as a teller. In February of 1946 she married Lubertus Munson at a home wedding in Webster City. The newly married couple moved to the Munson farm near Kamrar. Their one child, John, was born in July of 1947. In 1967 Elaine began work in the payroll office at Iowa State University, retiring in 1989. She then worked part time in the office of Southfield Wellness nursing home in Webster City, retiring in 2006.
Her most memorable trip was traveling to England and Scotland to visit her grandson, Nathan, when she was 80 years old.
She is survived by her son, The Rev. Dr. John Munson and his wife Susan of Fennville, MI; grandson, Nathan (Aimee) of St. Louis Park, MN; granddaughter, Kari (Ramesh Davit) of Columbus, OH; and great grandchildren, Delphine and Julien Munson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Elaine's husband, Lubertus, passed away in 2006. In addition, Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Bettimae Mamminga; and her brother, Wayne Arbaugh.
