Elaine Bentley Nielson, beloved matriarch and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully from natural causes on June 28, 2024, in North Logan, Utah. She was born on October 28, 1933, in St. George, Utah, to Mathew and Iris Bentley.
Elaine's life was defined by love, service, and a deep commitment to her family and faith. She attended school in St. George and later enrolled at Dixie College, where she met the love of her life, Clay Nielson. They were married in the St. George temple and settled in Smithfield, Utah, where they built their home and raised their family.
Together, Elaine and Clay were blessed with five sons, Doug, Scott, Rob, Mitch, Paul, and one daughter, Cindy. Elaine poured her heart into nurturing her children and supporting her husband in their community. She found great joy in her role as a mother and grandmother, with a posterity that exceeds 100 cherished descendants.
Elaine's dedication extended beyond her family. She devoted many years to serving in her church, particularly with the youth, whom she inspired to be their best selves and to embrace their faith. Her home was always open, often hosting gatherings where her warm hospitality and infectious laughter created lasting memories.
Professionally, Elaine worked at the Budge Clinic for several years, where her genuine care for others shone through in every interaction. Known for her welcoming smile and comforting words, she made everyone feel valued and supported.
Elaine's spirited nature was evident in everything she did. Whether cheering at her grandchildren's ball games or engaging in a competitive game of 5 Crowns, she approached life with enthusiasm and determination. Her grandchildren especially cherished her playful spirit and unwavering belief in their abilities.
Elaine is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clay Nielson, her parents, Mathew and Iris Bentley, her grandson Jeffrey, and her sisters Rhoda Seegmiller, Maurine Miles, and Yvonne Cooper. She is survived by her brother Reed Bentley, sister Pat Hughes, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom will deeply miss her kind smile, encouraging words, and boundless love.
Elaine Bentley Nielson leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and joy. Her impact on those around her is immeasurable, and her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. While we mourn her passing, we find solace in knowing that she has been joyfully reunited with her eternal companion. Farewell, dear Elaine—you will forever remain in our hearts.
