Elaine Marie Sobota, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in Salisbury, Maryland. Born in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Louis Stemphowski and Frances Gable.
Elaine enjoyed gardening, eating seafood, making her outstanding Polish food (especially Pierogies), and spending time with all of her kids, grand-kids, and great-grand-kids. She was a long-standing parishioner of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Sobota (Lisa), and John Sobota (Staci), three daughters, Carol Curley, Denise Barone, and Christine Foshay, nine grandchildren, Brendan, Joseph, Jessica, Jamie, Kaylee, Matthew, Lindsey, Payton, and Ava, and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Sobota, a brother, Walter Stemphowski, and three sisters, Frances Smith, Theresa Spanka, and Mary Ann Barone.
A viewing will take place on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 4:00PM to 6:00PM, at The Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 11:00AM, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Ocean Pines. Interment will follow at Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock at 2:00PM. Letters of condolence can be sent to the family via www.burbagefuneralhome.com. Arrangements are in the care of The Burbage Funeral Home.
Following the service friends and family are invited to a reception at the Easton Diner, 8451 Ocean Gateway, Easton, MD.
