Elbert Austin, 88, passed away on May 28, 2024, in Dayton Tn at a local health care facility. He was a dedicated employee for Catnapper for 44 years. Elbert was an avid Nascar fan, his favorite driver was Richard Petty. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the Tennessee Vols. Elbert served the community for many years as a little league coach. He was a friend to everyone that he met.
Elbert is survived by his daughter, Denise Bandy of Port Orange, FL.; grandson, Jason Bandy of Cleveland, TN.; brothers, Frank (Myra) Austin, and Albert Austin; along with some special family members, Helen Graham, Renee Ott, Ronnie Austin, Michelle Lewis, Shayla Graham, Josh, Alia, and Savannah Hembree.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Austin; and Ozena Mae Hatfield Austin; and his siblings, Pauline Reed, Emogene Haskins, Mary Ruth Jones, Thelma Couch, Joseph A. Austin Jr., George, Delma, John, Lester, Pete, and Martin Austin.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Courtyard at Deer Ridge.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland with Reverend Guinn Green officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Courtyard at Deer Ridge.
