It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elbert Lamar "Lee" Crawford, who departed this life peacefully on October 14, 2025, at the age of 91. Lee was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Lee is survived by his loving wife, Queen, of 64 years and 9 months, his children Leland (Annette), Sylvia, Annette (David) and Eric (Terri), and five grandchildren Brandon, Asia, Lamar, Erica and Terrence.
Lee was born on December 24, 1933, in Ringgold, Louisiana to the late Mr. Lewis Daniel Crawford and Mrs. Ida B. Leviston Crawford. To this union, were nine children, six sons, Lee and five who preceded Lee in death, Robert E., Samuel J., Richard K., James A. and Charles E. Crawford. Also preceding Lee in death were his two sisters Genoria J. Harrison and Dorothy M. Moore. Lewis had three other children, two brothers JC and Drew Crawford, from a previous marriage and a sister, Leslie Crawford Washington, who all preceded Lee in death. Lee also leaves to cherish his memory, his lifetime friend and buddy, his sister Dessire Crawford. Lee leaves behind nieces, nephews and a host of cousins who adored him dearly.
Lee was a hardworking man who worked with the City of Burlington Water and Sewer Department. Lee also worked for Triton Water, Alamance Foods, and CKS (forty-four years of service). His work ethic, kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be at Sharp Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Sharp Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, beginning with the pre-service visitation at 10:30 a.m.
His journey on this earth was one marked by hard work, compassion, and generosity. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
