Elbert Eugene Humfleet

Elbert Eugene Humfleet (Gene), 90 years old, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Ridgeway Nursing Home in Owingsville, Kentucky. Elbert was born on April 02, 1934, to the union of late Walter and Loula Benge Humfleet in Laurel County, KY.
Elbert is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Justene Humfleet, his son Robert Means, and son-in-law David Catchings.
He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Catchings, one son Walter (Teresa) Humfleet, nine grandchildren; Diana (Vernon) Rogers, Amy (Brian) Wagers, Jennifer (Richie) Springer, Angie (Matt) Jones, Justina Renee (Michael) Brooks, Erica (Travis)Boggs, Alana (Larry) Surrena, Ryan (Sheila) Means, and Joel Means, 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great- grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Humfleet retired from Western States Machine Shop in Hamilton, Ohio. He was a devout Christian and member of the Church of God. He served the Lord for many years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and Wrestling as well as eating tacos. Elbert was also an avid fan of Bluegrass Music. He will be missed by family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals Chapel in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Officiating the service will be Cecil Benge and Tom Redmond. Burial will follow at Machpelah Cemetery.
