Jackie Roberts Obituary

Jackie Kenneth Roberts
December 26, 1940 – February 22, 2026

Jackie's journey began on December 26, 1940, as the fifteenth child born to Eddie and Ethel (Dillon) Roberts. He was born in Clearfield (up Dry Creek), Kentucky. He was welcomed to his heavenly home on February 22, 2026.

At the age of 18, he met the love of his life, Polly (Pauline McClurg.) They dated for three years and were married on June 10, 1961, at her parents' home, with Lawrence Arnett Jr. performing his very first ceremony. That beautiful beginning led to more than 64 years of marriage, a wonderful family, and more cherished memories than could ever be counted.

In 1957, Jackie began his employment with WALD Bicycle factory in Maysville, Kentucky. After they were married, Jackie and Polly moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked at Mondie Forge. In the spring of 1968, they returned home to Kentucky. Over the years, Jackie worked at A.O. Smith in Mt. Sterling. His interest in doing body work on vehicles began in 1970 when he started working at Pug's Body Shop in Farmers. He continued his body work career at Don McKenzie Ford and Stanley Pontiac.

In 1977, he began his career at Sealmaster Bearing, where he remained until his retirement in 2003.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents; all fourteen of his siblings; and his son, Kenneth Wayne (1962–2015).

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Polly, of Morehead; his daughter, Tresa (Don) Laferty of Kansasville, Wisconsin; his sons, Joey (Amanda) of Frankfort and Jamie (Angela) of Morehead, Cris (widow of Kenneth) of Leitchfield; and his beloved grandchildren, Kennealy (Jon) Jenkins, Caitie, Sam, and Joey Roberts all of Morehead and Luke (Cari) Johnson and Lance (Ashley) Johnson of Leitchfield and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Jackie was a faithful member of the House of Prayer in Morehead for 30 years, where he served as a deacon, an usher, and a member of the church board. He truly loved greeting people, talking with them, and making everyone feel welcome.

In 1992, Jackie and Polly established Roberts Village Mobile Home Park in Morehead. Together, they created an environment of community and fellowship affectionally known as "The Park."

Jackie was a very hardworking man and a natural storyteller. He always ended a story by saying, "Well, that's the way I remember it." He was good-natured, with a wonderful sense of humor, always ready with a joke or an old-time Appalachian saying to fit just about any situation.

In his spare time, many would see Jackie out on the mower, but he also enjoyed tinkering on old cars, watching Westerns, and, most of all, spending time with his family-especially his grandchildren. He was always ready to share his wisdom, offering advice, comfort, and a listening ear for any of life's situations.

Before each service, Jackie would stop at the church door and pray: "Let us go into this temple with a clean heart and open mind and leave all the worldly things outside these doors. We ask you to anoint the choir and whoever brings the message. Bless each one of our kids, grandkids and step grandkids. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen."

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the amazing staff at St. Claire Medical Center, ER and 5th Floor. The nurses, doctors, and assistants were so helpful and kind. A heartfelt thank you also to Dr. Brad Baker and his team at Palliative & Hospice Care for the thoughtful and attentive care they gave such a special man in his time of great need.
