Elden Emil Krzyske

Elden Emil Krzyske, born on December 25, 1938, in Wyandotte, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, in Carleton, Michigan, at the age of 86.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Elden was known for his unwavering commitment to his faith and his family. He was married to the love of his life, Barbara Krzyske (Matthes), for 57 wonderful years. Together, they shared a life filled with love, creating cherished memories through their shared passion for making Jesus plaques, gardening, attending their grandchildren's sporting events, and traveling to places like Germany and Jerusalem where they have created fond memories together. He also loved putting puzzles together and would always save the last piece for his wife to insert to finish the picture.

Elden dedicated 44 years of his life working at Krzyske Brothers, a company founded by his grandfather. His work ethic and dedication were evident throughout his career. A man of deep faith, Elden was a devoted servant to God, teaching Sunday school for many years and serving as an usher for over seven decades. His craftsmanship was apparent in the approximately 1,600 Jesus plaques he lovingly created and shared with churches, friends, family, and colleagues.

A proud veteran, Elden served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964 stationed in Germany, during the Vietnam War. His skills earned him third place among 240 servicemen as a sharpshooter, a testament to his dedication and precision.

Elden leaves behind a legacy of love and humor, always remembered for his great sense of humor and devotion to his faith. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Krzyske; his children, Timothy (Heather) Krzyske, Susan (Richard) Calkins, and Karen (Robert) Makowski; and his cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Gabrielle, Hadley, Erich, Allyson and Michael. He is also survived by his siblings Nelda Rousselo, Emil (Constance) Krzyske, and Mildred Geiermann.

Preceding Elden in death are his siblings Elwood (Arlene) Krzyske, Noreen (Durrell) Williams, Lyle (Norma) Krzyske, Donna (Chuck) Butcher, Jack Rousselo, and Bud Geiermann.

Elden will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will forever be treasured in the hearts of his family and friends.
