Eleanor C. Dawson, 87, of Warsaw, passed away on the evening of Thursday, January 16, 2025. Eleanor was born in Haynesville, Virginia to the late George William Croxton and Violet Rose Harrison Croxton. She was married to George Dixon "Dickie" Dawson for 63 years.
Eleanor was a legal secretary for many years at the office of Thomas A. Williams. She was a devoted and lifelong member of Totuskey Baptist Church. Eleanor's musical talents were shared with many by playing the piano and singing across the Northern Neck. Eleanor loved her sons and doted on her granddaughters. She was thrilled when she became a great-grandmother to Henry and Harrison. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and a loyal friend.
Eleanor will be mourned by her son Kevin D. Dawson and wife Donna and son Brian D. Dawson and wife Gabrielle; her granddaughters, Haley Dawson Deihl (Joel) and Kelsey Dawson; her great-grandsons, Henry Deihl and Harrison Deihl; her sisters, Helen Brann and Waverly Burruss; her devoted friend and caretaker Sonya Douglas; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Dickie; her parents, George and Violet; and her siblings: Addie Belle, Warren, and Billy.
A funeral service for Eleanor will be held at Totuskey Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, with the Reverend Neale Schools officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, as well as at a light reception in the Totuskey Fellowship Hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to either Totuskey Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 100, Haynesville, VA 22472 or to the Richmond County Rescue Squad, 152 Community Park Drive, Warsaw, VA 22572.
