The funeral service for Eleanor Mae Mitchell Hendrix, 95 of Delta, will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Barfield Baptist Church with Rev. John Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the Black's Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Hendrix passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in the comfort of her home. She spent the majority of her life in Clay County, and she was a graduate of Lineville High School. She was married to the late Hugh Joe Hendrix. She worked at Higgins for several years, where she later retired. Mrs. Hendrix enjoyed oil painting, drawing, gardening, sewing, crocheting, cooking and shopping.

In her early years, she accepted Christ as her Savior and walked in the Lord's path led by the Holy Spirit and by studying God's Word. She was a woman of God who loved the Lord. She was active in the Woman's Missionary Union (WMU). She taught Sunday school and Bible school for over 40 years where she shared the Gospel of Jesus and touched the lives of many children at Grace Baptist Church and Barfield Baptist Church. She was a member of Barfield Baptist Church for 50 years. The love of God shined through her until the Lord called her home to be in His presence.

She is survived by three sons: Terry Hendrix (Debbie) of Trussville, Don Hendrix (Donna) of Ashland, and Steve Hendrix (Andrea) of Hayden; one son-in-law, Tom Randle of Trussville; two sisters, Jonnie Josey of Columbus, GA, and Margaret Worthy of Pinson; one brother Tommy Mitchell (Helen) of Hoover; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family. She loved and enjoyed her family.

Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by her parents: Hinton Mitchell and Evelyn Cate Mitchell; one daughter, Deb Randle; one sister, Bonnie Glaze and one brother, Jimmy Mitchell.

Pallbearers are Chris Hendrix, Hinton Hendrix, Wesley Hendrix, Ethan Hendrix,

Jack Hendrix and Mike Flynn.

Honorary Pallbearers are Angel Crawford, Theresa Suggs, Paula Griffin and Donna Duncan.

The family was blessed to have wonderful nurses and staff from SouthernCare New

Beacon Hospice to care for the medical needs of Mrs. Hendrix over the last few years.

God sent five amazing women (Angel, Theresa, Paula, Donna and Melissa) to be in Mrs. Hendrix's life and in the life of her family. Words cannot express the gratitude the family has for these extraordinary women and for the love and compassion these women displayed in the care of Mrs. Hendrix.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 31, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Barfield Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m.
