Eleanor Lang Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wallin-Stucky Funeral Home - Oak Harbor on Dec. 11, 2025.
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Eleanor "Ellie" June Lang (née Holliday) on November 11th, 2025, at the age of 94 in Oak Harbor, Washington.
Ellie was born on June 24th, 1931, in Nantymoel, Wales, UK. She moved to London as a young child and grew up during the height of WWII. Ellie completed primary school at 16 and at 21, she boarded a ship and set sail for Canada.
Shortly after arriving in Canada, she met and eventually married, Jim Jones. They then moved to Texas and had two children, Pryce and Kathy Lang (Jones). That marriage ended in divorce and she then moved to Tacoma, Washington. There she met Charlie, Charles Lang, who was in the US Army. They married on May 8th 1967 in Hawaii and were married for 56 years. They had two children, Theresa and Christine Lang. They traveled all over Europe and the UK during Charlie's military career and eventually settled in Tacoma after his retirement in 1974. In 1994 they moved from Tacoma to Whidbey Island, where they both lived out the rest of their days together and very much in love.
Ellie was a kind and generous person, always willing to give advice or otherwise help out. She was a wonderful story teller, sharing stories of how she heard Sir Winston Churchill's "Never Surrender" speech on the Wireless. She loved her knitting and Agatha Christie books. She was many things to many people, Mom, Mum, Nana, Wife, Friend. She was the "glue" of the family and will be terribly missed. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Cross, her daughters Theresa Lang-Follen and Christine Hamm and husband William, and quite a few grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Laurie and Mabel Holliday, husband, Charles Lang, sister Mary Holliday and children Kathy and Pryce Lang.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 13th, 2025 at Wallin-Stucky Funeral Home located at 1811 NE 16th Ave, Oak Harbor, WA. Reception to follow immediately after the Celebration of Life.
