Eleanor Irene (Hopkins) Muths gained her wings September 28th, 2025. She was 89 years old.
She was born October 7th, 1935 to Oren and Alice Hopkins at their farm North of Wauneta. The doctor's fee for delivering her was 1 chicken! Eleanor was greeted by her big sisters Yvonne, Joyce and Patsy. She attended and graduated from Wauneta school. She met and married the love of her life Jerome Muths on August 27th, 1953 in Elsie, NE. Having recently celebrated their 72nd anniversary. Of this union, they were blessed with 5 children, Terry, Raymond, Diane, Debra and Barbara. Eleanor enjoyed helping Jerome on the farm. She also liked being outside and always kept the yard mowed and looking nice. They enjoyed traveling to Denver for the flea market and garage sales. Sunday dinners were always loved, especially when fried chicken was made! Playing cards and board games with the grandkids was competitive especially checkers. She was an excellent player!
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents and sister Joyce. She is survived by her husband Jerome, sons, Terry and Cindy Muths, Raymond and Dollene Muths, and daughters Diane Mathews, Deb and Greg Petersen, Barb and Craig Nickman, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4th from 10:00 a.m., (MST) to Noon at Liewer Funeral Home, Wauneta, NE.
