Eleanor Marie O'Reilly

Eleanor Marie O'Reilly, age 88, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.
She was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late William and Helen (Banks) Nenstiehl. In addition to raising her family, Eleanor worked for most of her adult life; first with Liberty Mutual, then DuPont, and then in 1972, she founded Shamrock Printing with her late husband, John, who passed away in 2017. Eleanor was very organized, numbers oriented and played an integral role in the success of the family business.
She enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the family's summer home in Avalon, NJ. Eleanor had a great artistic talent and loved to create beautiful things - flower arrangements, paintings, ceramics and many other crafts. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and reading.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Michael, of Hockessin, Kathy Sumner, of Hockessin, and David (Marlene), of Lincoln University, PA; her 9 grandchildren, Kelli, Danny, Brock, Kourtney, Kaitlin, Owen, Megan, Alicia and Sean; her great-grandchildren, Jake, Vinnie, Blaine, Olivia, Ailish, Seamus, and Johnny-Pat; and her beloved dog, Rosie.
In addition to her husband John, Eleanor is predeceased by her son Kevin.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Senior Living in Hockessin and Bayada for taking care of our Mom over these last few months.
A visitation will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Thursday, July 13, 2023, beginning at 11:00am. A funeral service will commence at 12:30pm, with interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery.
