Eleanor Schumaker Obituary
Eleanor Schumaker, 94, of Webster City died Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Southfield Wellness Community. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025 at Asbury United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date. Foster Funeral and Cremation is entrusted with the services.
Eleanor Alice Tolstrup, daughter of Arthur and Maggie (Hunter) Tolstrup, was born December 9, 1930 on the family farm in rural Kamrar. She attended Grandview country school and graduated from Lincoln high school in 1948. On February 8, 1953, Eleanor was united in marriage to Wilbur Elmo Schumaker at Asbury United Methodist Church. She worked for seven years at Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator and then stayed home to raise her children.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Wilbur; daughter, Rita (John) Schmidt of Ocheyedan; son, Ronald (Kim) Schumaker of Jewell; four grandchildren, Leisa (Jake) Isder, Kevin (Danika) Schmidt, Ross (Melissa) Schumaker, Alex (Shanti) Schumaker; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Tolstrup of Webster City and sister, Karen Ireson of Salt Lake City, UT.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Christine Lou Schumaker; brother, Everett (Marybe) Tolstrup; sister-in-law, Melba Tolstrup and Wilda (Tilford) Teig and brother-in-law, Gilbert Schumaker.
She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and PEO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Asbury United Methodist Church.
