Eleanor G. (Anderson) Selander, age 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 07, 2024, at her home in Walpole, Massachusetts surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Roy K. Selander with whom she shared 68 wonderful years of marriage.
Ellie was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 06, 1933. She was the daughter of Anders and Ruth O. Anderson. Ellie was raised in Dedham Massachusetts along with her brother Ralph and sister Mildred.
Upon graduation from Dedham High School with the class of 1951, Ellie enrolled in Nursing School on Newbury Street in Boston. Ellie graduated in 1953 with her Associate Degree in Nursing. As a Licensed Practical Nurse Ellie was devoted to her patients ensuring they received the best quality care. She took a well deserved retirement in 1998 after more than 40 years in the nursing field.
Ellie married the love of her life, Roy K. Selander, on April 11, 1956, at the Forest Hills Covenant Congregational Church in Boston. The pair made their married home in Walpole, Massachusetts, where they raised their two children Linda and Robert.
Ellie lived life to the fullest and touched the lives of all that she knew. She enjoyed such passions as bowling, golf, gardening, camping and crossword puzzles. Ellie loved to travel visiting local destinations such as Harwich Port, Cape Cod as well as further destinations such as Florida and Europe.
Ellie will be loved and missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Loving mother of Linda S. Thompson, and her husband Kevin, of East Falmouth, and Robert A. Selander of Mansfield.
Cherished grandmother of Megan O’Hare, and her husband Sean, of Middleboro and John Garr of San Francisco, California; great grandmother of Ryder O’Hare of Middleboro.
Sister of the late Ralph Anderson and Mildred Ahern.
The Family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Dana Farber and Caring Hospice for all the wonderful care they gave Ellie.
A memorial service will be held celebrating Ellie’s Life on August 3rd, 2024 in the United Church of Walpole, 30 Common Street, Walpole MA at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eleanor’s name may be made to either the United Church in Walpole at 30 Common Street, Walpole MA. 02081 or to Caring Hospice Services of Massachusetts at 11 Vanderbilt Ave, Suite 250, Norwood MA. 02062
