Eleanor Shumway Obituary

Shumway led an amazing life. She served in Subic Bay, Philippines, at the Navy School, and twice in Ethiopia as a Peace Corps volunteer. Later, as a beloved educator in the Lucia Mar School District, she taught hundreds of area middle schoolers the joys of reading and writing.
Shumway's 32 years of leading the Halcyon community began in 1990. One of her proudest accomplishments was guiding the successful application process naming the community as a State and National Historic District.
A Celebration of Life will be held September 6 at 2:00pm in the Blue Star Memorial Temple, 3199 Temple Street in Halcyon
