Ruth Ann (Davis) Shumway, 91, of Wellsboro, passed away Tuesday August 19, 2025, at Country Terrace Assisted Living. She was born May 30, 1934, in Delmar Township, to Granvel H. and Myra (Weller) Davis. On November 8, 1953, she married Arthur L. Shumway with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. With Arthur she owned and operated Shumway Meat Processing. Ruth Ann worked at the Tioga County Visitors Center for 10 years, and the position was one she enjoyed and took pride in. Those jobs were in addition to her main occupation, which was serving as her household's executive. Ruth Ann was a member of the Coolidge Hollow Community Church, the Mt. Laurel Quilt Guild, and a charter member of the Canyon Squares.
Ruth Ann is survived by three sons: William (Jan) Shumway of Wellsboro, Robert (Diane) Shumway of Sugar Run, PA, and Russell (Amy) Shumway of Greer, SC; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother: Glenn (Vivian) Davis of McElhatten, PA; and a sister: Rheta (Bob) Boyles of Williamsport. She was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, a brother: Earl Davis, and a sister: Alice Hubbard.
Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to Ruth Ann at a celebration of her life from 2:30pm to 4:00pm on Thursday September 11, 2025, at the Coolidge Hollow Community Church. Donations in her memory may be made to the Coolidge Hollow Community Church 123 Coolidge Hollow Road Wellsboro, PA 16901.
