Carolyn Shumway

Carolyn Shumway, 82, of Lynn Haven, Florida, passed away into her Heavenly Home on August 16, 2025.

Carolyn was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on April 29, 1943, to Clark and Esther Bright. She was a licensed minister in the West Florida Network of the Assemblies of God. She and her late husband, Rev. Dean Shumway ministered across the nation in music and ministry of the Word. They pastored churches in Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi and Florida. Their last pastorate was at Bayou George Assembly of God (now New Family Assembly of God).

Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Dean Shumway; parents, Clark and Esther Bright; brother, Kinnie Bright; sister, Retha Mershell; brother, Bill Bright.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Joe Rodriguez; two granddaughters, Kristina Brown (Robert) and Deana Rodriguez; four great grandchildren, Cannon Rodriguez, Eloise Lyon, Reid Lyon and Lea Brown; one sister, Karen Wright (John Homer); sister-in-law, Sherry Shumway; and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly and a host of cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, August 21, from 6-8 at Kent Forest Lawn.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, August 23, at 11 a.m. at Kent Forest Lawn with entombment at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Officiating will be Rev. Phil Edwards and Rev. Hayward Miller.
