Lawrence Douglas "Doug" Brian Sr., 89, of
Panama City, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025 surrounded by his family. A proud veteran, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of dedication and service.
Born on April 17,1936 in Warren, Pennsylvania to Laurence P. Brian and Hazel (Betty) Brian. Doug dedicated most of his life to serving his country. He proudly served in the Naval Reserve from 1953-1954 and then enlisted and served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1977 achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. During this time he was stationed in various locations both domestic and abroad including the Philippines, Maine, Montana, Massachusetts and South Carolina. After retiring from the Air Force, Doug continued serving his country by embarking upon a 25 year career in civilian government with the majority of this time being spent as the Deputy, 325th Contracting Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City. One of his final assignments was taking on the position as Deputy, 374th Contracting Squadron at Yakota AB in Japan. A few of the many highlights and accomplishments during his long and distinguished career include:
• Member of the All Air Force traveling basketball team
• Commander's Award for Excellence in Small Business Programs Outstanding Contracting Civilian Award.
• HQ United States Air Force Outstanding Civilian Award in Base Contracting
• Outstanding Operational Contracting Civilian Award
• Secretary of the Air Force Outstanding Achievement Award for Small and Disadvantaged Business Programs
In his spare time, Doug enjoyed golfing and spending time in his workshop on numerous home improvement projects. He also had a love for the water where he fished, snorkeled and spent many hours cruising in one of his boats.
Doug is predeceased by his wife, Josephine (Rigoli), his parents Laurence P. and Hazel (Betty) Brian and his granddaughter Kelly Brian. He is survived by his children, Lawrence (Terry) Brian, Jr. and Robin (Jim) Davis as well as his grandchildren Jimmy Davis, Becky Brian, Shannon Mirabal and Jordan Davis and great grandchildren Kaiden Mirabal, Ava Davis, Kiley Mirabal, Ella Davis, James Davis, Rainy Brian and Colt Mims. Additionally, Doug is survived by his loving sister Joan B. Thompson (Donald L deceased) and brothers Donald Brian (Lynnell deceased) and Craig (Jan) Brian and many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 14th at 2:00 at St. Peter & St. Paul Catholic Church, 1003 N. East Avenue,
Panama City, Fl. 32401. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 and interment will take place at the Catholic Cemetery following the Service. Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed online at www.kentforestlawn.com
