"ELEANORE F. THOMAS
After gracing this world for 97 years, Eleanore F. Thomas, affectionately known to many as Lovie, passed away peacefully the morning of October 1, 2025, with her loving family by her side. She was born October 27, 1927, in Alumbank, Pennsylvania to parents, Van and Viola (Myers) Westover, who have preceded her in death. Her husband, Paul Thomas — lovingly called Sweetheart by Eleanore throughout their 56 years of marriage — also precedes her in death, as well as her siblings: Theodore, Austin, Viola, Moynelle, Myers, Leonard, Helen, Purdy, Ernest, Clara, Warren, and her baby sister, Leona.
Raised in the Allegheny Mountains, Eleanore enjoyed the beauty of her country home and the family farm, where she developed a lifelong appreciation for the simple joys of nature, hard work, and community. Growing up on a farm was a simple yet challenging life, but it taught her the value of perseverance, gratitude, and pride in one's efforts.
Eleanore thrived as a stay-at-home mother and took extraordinary pride in caring for her home, family, and friends. She was encouraging, compassionate, and a blessing to her husband and children, meeting their needs both big and small, drying tears, healing hurts, comforting with a hug, and carrying the responsibilities of wife and mother with love and grace. She was also very social and cherished get-togethers, staying active in many church and public activities throughout her life.
Known as a loving aunt, cousin, and friend, Eleanore touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a doting wife, mother, and grandmother who treasured time spent with her family and extended relatives. She also unofficially “adopted” many of the friends of her children and grandchildren, always making them feel like part of the family.
Eleanore is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Brian) West and Lonna Thomas; son, Brad (Brenda) Thomas; grandchildren, Dr. Cindy (Mike) and Daniel (Ashton); and many dear relatives and friends who were incredibly special to her.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Hecker-Patron Funeral Home, Uniontown, on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.` The service will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Uniontown Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family has kindly suggested that Memorial Contributions may be made in Eleanore’s memory to The Haven of Rest."
