Eli Joel Weissman

Eli Joel Weissman, 83, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on January 6, 1943, in New York, New York, to the late Flora and Herman Weissman. Eli grew up in Bergenfield, New Jersey, where he graduated from Bergenfield High School. He went on to earn degrees from Fairleigh Dickinson University and later received his Ph.D. from Capella University.

Eli spent 30 years building a successful career at IBM before following his lifelong passion for education. He became an adjunct professor at Montclair State University, where he taught mathematics and computer science. He found great joy in teaching and especially loved tutoring high school and college students, helping them gain confidence in their abilities and discover that math could be something they truly understood.

On July 22, 1967, Eli married Alberta, the love of his life. Together they built a beautiful life in Parsippany, New Jersey. Eli was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his family was always his greatest pride. He is survived by his three daughters, Beth (Lance), Mindy (Keith), and Lauren (Peter), and his eight grandchildren: Jake, Sammie, Josh, Alyssa, Justin, Leah, Jack, and Lilly.

Eli loved music, traveling, and gardening, but nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with his family-especially family vacations, gatherings, and celebrations. He will be remembered for his dedication, kindness, quiet humor, and unwavering love for those around him.
