Elida Gonsales Obituary
Born September 27, 1933, in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Pablo and Paula Herrera De Leon. Married the love of her life Rogerio Gonzales, on August 13, 1950, and had six children.
She retired from the San Benito Independent School District as a main cafeteria cook for Sullivan Elementary and had previously worked at Levi Strauss in San Benito. She was a devoted Jehovah Witness since 1974, and her faith gave her strength through her most trying times. She enjoyed working on her plants and garden, as well as spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
Preceded in death by husband, Rogerio Gonzales; daughter, Rosa Maria; parents Pablo and Paula De Leon, brothers, Margarito De Leon, Isidoro De Leon, Ramiro De Leon; sisters, Rafaela Garza, Guadalupe Martinez, Ema De Leon, and Maria De Jesus Hernandez.
She is survived by her sister, Yolanda De Leon; daughters, Esperanza Gonzales, Janie Gonzales, Diana Gonzales, Belinda (Michael) Longoria; and son, Jesus Gonzales (Josie). Also surviving are her grandchildren: Bethany, Brenda, Javier, Frances, Melissa, Jesus, Jr., Connie, Deanne, Ricardo, Jr., Julian, Carlos, and Danielle and her many great-grandchildren and extended family.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Talk Service at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
A Chapel Service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with a burial to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
