It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elida Rangel, beloved mother, friend, and cherished member of our community. Elida was born on March 20, 1936, in Sabinas, Mexico, and peacefully departed this world on October 4, 2025, in Pleasanton, Texas, at the age of 89.

Elida's journey through life was characterized by her unwavering work ethic and indomitable spirit. Despite having limited formal education, she devoted over 20 years to her career at Alberts & Farragut in Downtown Laredo, where she rose from a sales associate to a respected sales manager, earning the admiration of many along the way. She exemplified the virtues of hard work, determination, and the belief that one's character is defined not by letters after their name, but by actions taken and relationships built.

A devoted animal lover, Elida had a special affinity for cats and dogs, often welcoming them with open arms. She extended this warmth into her home, creating a welcoming atmosphere for family and friends with her unmatched hospitality. Elida was an extraordinary cook, renowned for her homemade flour tortillas that became a staple in gatherings. Her culinary skills, coupled with her love for entertaining, transformed her home into a hub of joyous celebrations and treasured memories.

In addition to her work and culinary talents, Elida dedicated her time as a volunteer with the Red Cross, showcasing her compassionate heart. Though she was not a licensed nurse, she became a trusted figure in the community, providing care and administering shots to those in need-her service further cementing her legacy of kindness and reliability.

Elida is survived by her loving daughter, Sanjuanita DeLuna (Tanis), her son, Vicente Rangel; brothers Jose Angel (Lupita), and Rodolfo (Nati); grandchildren Tanis Jr., Gabriel Alejandro, Ivan Kristian, Paola Alejandra, Josue Vicente, and Regina.

Elida was preceded in death by: Father Victoriano Serna; Mother Fructuosa Serna; son Juan Enrique; siblings Rita, Guadalupe, Margarito, Juanita, Victor and Rogelio.

A special thanks to the staff at Pleasanton South, Methodist Hospital at Jourdanton, and Shepherd Hospice for their attention and care.

The family will celebrate Elidas' life in a small and commemorative family religious ceremony to be announced.
