Elida Subia, a beloved matriarch and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, in Andrews, TX. Born on February 14, 1939, in Fort Stockton, TX, to the late Catarino and Conrada Jaquez, Elida's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her dedication to her family, and her generous spirit.
Elida's journey alongside her cherished husband, the late Anastacio R. Subia Jr., began on May 5, 1955, in Lovington, NM. Their union was blessed with love, laughter, and a legacy that would extend through their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was the joy of her life, and she instilled in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and the importance of faith. Though she is now reunited with Anastacio, her sons Rene J. Subia, and Anastacio R. Subia III, her siblings Antonio Jaquez, Juan Jaquez, Catarino Jaquez Jr., Eulalia Rhodes, and Senaida Hernandez, and her great-granddaughter Victoria Ramirez, her luminous presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Elida's life was rich with the love of her surviving family members. She was a guiding light to her daughter, Sylvia Rampone, and husband Jon of Andrews, TX, her sister, Mary Lozano, and husband Reyes of El Dorado, TX, and her eleven grandchildren, Prescilla Ramirez and husband Nicky, Jon Robert Rampone, Anthony Subia and wife Tiffany, Coby Subia, Mackenzie Subia, Taylor Martinez and husband David, Tyson Subia, Britney Subia and wife Tiffany, Jacob Subia and wife Emily, Caleb Subia, and Madison Subia, and seventeen great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her legacy of love and faith.
Her interests were a mirror to her soul. Elida's life motto, "God, Family, and Church," was not just a saying but a way of life. She served her church with an open heart, and her deep faith in the Lord was the cornerstone of her existence. Elida's kitchen was a place of warmth and joy, where she could often be found singing and cooking, her voice a melody that soothed and uplifted the spirits of all who were fortunate enough to be within earshot.
Her passion for her grandchildren knew no bounds. Elida would travel any distance to support them, whether it was for a ball game or any event they participated in. She was their most enthusiastic cheerleader, always ready with words of encouragement and a loving embrace.
Elida's love of country music was as constant as her love for her family, providing a soundtrack to the many moments she shared with them. Her talent for sewing and quilting was yet another way she expressed her care, creating beautiful, tangible memories that would wrap her loved ones in comfort.
The void left by Elida's passing will be felt by many, but the beauty of her life will continue to resonate. Her story is one of enduring love, unwavering faith, and a spirit of generosity that touched the lives of everyone around her.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00AM, Monday, November 11, 2024, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Brant O' Connor and Brother Reyes Lozano Officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Andrews County North Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, from 5PM-8PM, Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 10AM-8PM, and Sunday, November 10, 2024, from 1PM-8PM at McNett Funeral Home.
