Elinor "Kay" Shaffer

Elinor "Kay" Shaffer, 83, most recently of New Braunfels, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Born in Mobridge, South Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Irma Lohn. She spent her early life growing up in Minnesota and always cherished life by the lake.
During her professional life, she worked in nine different states serving in various positions for over 30 years. Her career culminated with her retirement from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation- Dallas office. She enjoyed music, reading, crafts, shopping, and never passed on an opportunity to enjoy dessert with family and friends.
Kay was a devoted Christian and compassionate and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, neighbor, and friend. Her greatest source of pride was building a family with her high school sweetheart, Bill. During their 65 years of marriage, they were blessed with a daughter(Sue and son-in-law Doug), son (Scott and daughter-in-law Maria), and four grandchildren (Nathan, Katelin, Kyle, and Haley). She cherished time with family and friends and brought incredible joy to our lives.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her brothers Kenneth and Roger Lohn, her sister Connie Proeschel, and brother-in law Robert Shaffer. Kay is survived by her husband William "Bill" Shaffer; children Susan Dederman (Douglas) and Scott Shaffer (Maria); grandchildren Katelin, Nathan, Kyle, and Haley; sister-in-law Gina Shaffer, and various nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a time to gather from 6:00-7:00 PM with the service beginning at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
