What is grief, but love persevering?
Elio "Al" Caramb, Jr. of Deerfield Beach, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the age of 64, while in Hospice care. He was born April 7, 1958 to Olga and Elio Caramb, Sr. Al grew up in Brooklyn, NY where he made a few strong, lifelong friendships. He had a deep love and loyalty for his family that was instilled in him at a young age and he carried those values with him for his entire life. He worked for over 25 years in the Fulton Fish Market at the South Street Seaport in Manhattan. He enjoyed working in the seafood industry and developed friendships there that continued throughout his lifetime. It was at the Fulton Fish Market that he met the love of his life, Jennifer, and they started a family in 1992. He was a strong example of an extraordinary son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Al was intent and content to focus on loving his family, being an outstanding example to his children and grandchildren on what an authentically good person was, a dependable employee and volunteer and a loyal friend. He volunteered for many years in the youth ministry at Family Church in Middletown, New York. Hunting and fishing were two of his greatest passions, and he enjoyed being on the water or in the woods. He loved God and aimed to make a difference in the lives of young people he served, even after throat cancer took his voice box. Al had an upbeat and fun-loving personality that always aimed to lighten the mood wherever he went. His great sense of humor and laughter carried him through every single challenge he faced. He always listened to people as they talked and aimed to understand the perspectives of others. The outpouring of love and support toward his family from people from New York to Florida is astounding.
Al was pre-deceased by his parents and leaves behind his wife, Jennifer Caramb; four adult children, Daniella, Amanda, Victoria and Stephen; four grandchildren, Giovanni, Giselle, Aniyah and Isabella; brother, Alex Caramb and sister-in-law Nancy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard & Lissette, Laurie & Ralph and George & Carla; nieces & nephews, Taylor, Alexa, Andrew, Melissa, Madeline, Helena & Julian; beyond his family, he was loved by several friends and co-workers he had connected with throughout the years.
Visitation will be held at Barbara Falowski Funeral & Cremation Services on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 3-5pm, with a service to celebrate his life starting at 5pm. Pastor Bryant Vasquez will be officiating, and Al has requested for his remains to be cremated.
