Her Legacy Elisa Eva Czapski, 98, passed away September 9, 2024. She was born on April 10, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan to Pasquale Calabrese and Mary (Carpeneti) Calabrese. She graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit in 1944. Elisa worked as a clerk for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway out of Michigan Central Station in Detroit from 1944-1988 when they closed. Elisa married the love of her life, Ben Czapski, on June 15, 1967, in Howell, Michigan. She will be remembered as a very loving, thoughtful and kind person. During her early life, she did everything with her twin brother, Michael. Music was a big part of her life and Elisa played the accordion in her younger days. She loved big band music and listening to Dean Martin and Johnny Mathis. Elisa was a huge fan of John Wayne. She adored driving her Cadillac with the big fins on the back. Elisa loved anything Italian and eating fancy foods. She enjoyed doing puzzles and playing cards with friends. Elisa was most happy when she was on the lake in Howell.
Her Family Elisa will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Robert (Karen) Kopicko, Ronald (Becky) Kopicko; Patt (David) Withers, Su Gerber; loving companion and caregiver, Chris Robinson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ben Czapski; twin brother, Michael Calabrese, and sister, Ida Kopicko.
