It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elisa Jan Mynhier, who left this world on December 14, 2024 at the age of 64, after a courageous battle with cancer. Elisa was born on August 19, 1960 in Ada, Oklahoma, to her loving parents William Arvin Mynhier and Janice Rhae (Liles) Mynhier. Elisa's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to education, her zest for life, and her deep love for family and friends.
Elisa was a passionate educator who profoundly impacted the lives of countless students during her esteemed career. Elisa graduated from Sasakwa High School in 1978 and went on to college to obtain her master's degree in education. She began her teaching journey on the Hopi Reservation in Northeastern Arizona, where she nurtured young minds with compassion and skill. Throughout her career, she served as an Assistant Principal in Texas and later as a Principal in Oklahoma, and currently touching the hearts of many as a middle school science teacher at Davis Public Schools. Her unwavering commitment and excellence in education earned her the distinguished title of Teacher of the Year in 2023 at Davis.
Beyond her professional achievements, Elisa's adventurous spirit set her apart. She cherished her travels with her best friend, Becky, creating unforgettable memories together. Elisa was an ardent fan of the Texas Rangers baseball team and the Dallas Cowboys football team, celebrating each game with an infectious energy and optimism that brought joy to those around her. Elisa's family mentioned they loved her cooking, especially her hot rolls.
Elisa's radiant personality and various neat presents she gave to her niece and nephews will be missed. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to teaching others how to get along will undoubtedly live on in the hearts and minds of her students, family, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we remember Elisa, let us honor her by celebrating the positivity she brought into the world and the love she so freely shared.

I send my deepest sympathy to EJ´s family and Becky. I loved EJ and she was one of my very favorite principals. She had such a passion for her students and staff. I was fortunate enough to stay in touch with her, and she was so optimistic about everything. She impacted so many, and she will be missed by so many of us. She made this world a better place. Sending love and prayers to all.
