Elizabeth Marie (Felzke) Alder, a beautiful, generous and loving woman, left this world too soon on September 24, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Her battle with cancer, over before it started.
Liz was born in Laingsburg in 1964 to Jerry Paul Felzke and Katherine Anne (Wayne) Carlson. She was known for her fun and vibrant soul, her fierce love of family and for getting into trouble in her younger years. She was a 1982 graduate of Laingsburg High School. She went on working several years at Canteen, before taking a position at GM Fisher Body in the paint department. She went on to retire from a twenty year career with Fisher Body in 2021.
Growing up on a farm, she had a love for animals. She joined along side her siblings in 4H as a child, showing sheep with her sisters at the county fair. She carried that love into adulthood, having many dogs, cats and horses over the years, and competing in horse shows as recently as August. She enjoyed entering the English and Western walk/trot events, as well as showmanship. She loved live music and dancing, hanging with friends and family, and going out! So much so, that she used her older sister's ID to turn 21 a few years in a row! She always had a zest for life.
Liz had one daughter, Carrie Anne Alder, 33, of Durand. Carrie Anne was her pride and joy, her drive and purpose, and most recently, her best friend, spending lunch hours on the phone.
She met her husband, Gary, and they were married November 3, 2000 in East Lansing. They resided at Scenic Lake for many years, spending time on and near the water, for many years, until buying a farm to house the animals she and their daughter loved so much. She spent hours and hours in the barn with the horses and with Carrie Anne.
Liz is survived by her husband Gary Alder, her daughter Carrie Anne Alder (Josh Blackburn), her grandchildren Brayden, Peyton and Douglas, her step-father Wayne (Anne) Carlson, her sisters Carrie (Felzke) Barr and Marguerite (Felzke) Quinn, her brother Jeff Felzke, 8 nieces and nephews, 16 great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as so many other friends and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her mother Anne, her father Jerry, her sister and brother-in-law Brenda and Terry Glazier and her niece Desiree Rosner.
A celebration of life will be held on October 11, 2025 from 2-5 pm at the American Legion in Laingsburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shiawassee County 4-H Horse program.
The family is being served by Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Laingsburg Chapel where online condolences may be shared at www.watkinsfuneralhomes.com.
