Elizabeth Carol Babb, 46, passed away on March 4, 2024 in her hometown of Louisville,
Kentucky. Born January 9, 1978 to Stephen and Carol Babb, Liz or "Babbs" as she was known
by many, was frequently described as a "Bright Light" and one of the most caring women you
could know. She was known for ability to accept everyone for who they were, and normalized
and supported others' struggles.
Liz attended Highland High School, participated in marching band, was a "Starlighter" in the
show choir and made many lifelong friends who benefited from her fun loving spirit. She was
known for her riotous "Babb Bashes" thrown with her lifelong partner in crime and sister, Emily.
She went on to study nursing and graduated from Anderson University. She was a dedicated
and empathetic nurse who found immense joy in caring for others. She was employed first at
Anderson Community Hospital, then at Baptist East Hospital, where her care for her patients
was so great, that she was bestowed the honor of a Kentucky Colonel. She later worked at
Fresenius Kidney Care, Pure LIfe Renal and ultimately passed on her love of nursing through
teaching at Caris College. Patients and colleagues alike praised her skill, caring nature and
compassion that continued even after patient care was no longer needed.
Her deep love for her family was obvious to all. She saved up all her vacation days for holidays,
trips to Maine in the summer, and any other chance she had to be together, living for family
time. The love and the joy that she shared with her family extended to the family she built with
her coworkers, dog park friends, childhood friends, and many others she met along the way.
She was the best dog mama on the planet, frequently joking that she loved dogs more than
humans. However, she was always quick to help a friend or family member whenever she
could. Liz faced many struggles and kept many to herself, protecting those she loved from her
challenges. Anything she shared merely scratched the surface of a pain she held close to her
heart.
Liz was preceded in death by her loving mother, Regina Carol Babb, her grandparents Joseph
Sparks, Regina Sparks (Emrich), William Emrich, Lavena Babb, and Jack Babb, Uncles
Thomas Babb and Art Gunderson, as well as her fur babies, Kahlua, Jada and O'Hara. Grieving
her loss are her father, Stephen Babb (Elaine), sister Emily Koziol (Zach), brother Todd Wilbert
(Tabatha), nieces Caroline and Vivian Koziol, Erika Rayfield (Khalil), her nephews Deacon
Koziol, Tyler and Conner Wilbert, her Grand-Niece Audrey Rayfield, as well as many loving
aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and her favorite companions Kimber, Cooper, and Finny. A
devoted Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, and friend, Liz will be deeply missed by all that
knew and loved her.
