Elizabeth Barnes Obituary

Died: January 31, 2021
Elizabeth "Betty" Barnes, 93, beloved Mother and Grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on January 31, 2021. She entered this world on November 26, 1927 in Joliet, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband David L. Barnes son Roger Barnes and her parents William and Frieda (Riemer) Schmekel. She is survived by two sons Stephen (Judy) Barnes and David L. (Lynne) Barnes Jr.; daughter-in-law Cindy Barnes; six grandchildren Stacey (Greg) Klemstein, Michael (Jessica) Barnes, Susan (Matt) Oldenburg, Bradley Barnes, Adam Barnes, and Sarah (Ross) Abbott; and two great-grandchildren Grace and Josh Barnes.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Joliet with visitation starting at 9 a.m. If you are unable to attend in person you will be able to view the service by visiting www.bgsfuneralhome.com and following the Video Link on Betty's obituary page. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lutheran Hillside Village, 6901 N Galena Rd, Peoria, IL 61614 or the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
