Edwin R. Sly "Eddie"

Age 90 passed away Thursday February 19, 2026, at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet surrounded by his family, Edwin was a life-long Lockport resident. A Veteran, Edwin served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956, he was a paratrooper and member of the 82nd Airborne Division based out of Fort Bragg, NC. Edwin retired from the Northern Illinois Gas Company giving more than 30 years of service, he then went on to drive a school bus for Lockport School District 205 giving another 15 years of dedicated service. Edwin is survived by his loving companion Judy Posego and her children; children Vicki (Jack) Chignoli, Cathy Shipman, Shelley (Joe) Surman, and Steve (Mary M. Saitta) Sly; brother Ron (Sharon) Sly; grandchildren Carissa (Roel Gonzalez) Strong, Amanda (Brent) Vance, also Sam and Scott Sly; great grandchildren Jacob, Hailie, Joshua, Preslie, Dean, and Reva; sister-in-law's Susan (Phil) Cleveland, Lydia (Dave) Foreman, and Jody (the late Don) Meade, also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife Diane M. Sly (Abrams) also parents Elisha and Frances Sly and in-laws, Helen and Alvin Schroder. Per Edwin's wishes, services will be private, his cremains will be taken to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood for inurnment and military honors.
