Elizabeth "Liz" Berger passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025 in Hingham at the age of 76. She is survived by her children Victoria Russell, Alexandra Hegde, and Max Berger, along with her son-in-law Vikram Hegde, Max's partner Ilanna Tariff, and grandchildren Cameron Russell, Anika Hegde, and Viyona Hegde. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years John Berger and son-in-law Corey Russell, her mother Ruth and her father Gene Freeman. Born on October 7, 1948 in Dedham, MA, Liz led a life full of love and laughter. Liz cherished her time with friends and family. She had a deep love for the natural beauty around her, soaking in the sun at Green Harbor Beach, strolling the grounds of the Audubon Society, and hunting for the ideal picnic spot throughout New England to indulge in wine and cheese while solving the world's problems with whoever was lucky enough to join her. A lifelong educator, Liz earned her degrees from Umass Boston and Northeastern University and spent her career working as a Middle School English teacher in the Marshfield School System for over 40 years, eventually becoming head of her department. Her students adored her creative lessons and passion for ancient myths and Edgar Allen Poe. Her teaching was fueled by a passion for the arts, be it literary or cinematic. Her memory will live on in the countless minds she helped to mold. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The funeral service will also be held at the MacDonald Funeral Home on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 10:00AM. After the service, Liz will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in the Couch Cemetery Union St. Marshfield. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the family's 48 Peaks for Alzheimer's team.
