Elizabeth Jean Boyd, known as Bets, 91, was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on April 1, 1934, and passed away on August 20, 2025, in Colorado Springs from natural causes.
Elizabeth grew up in Colorado Springs, and attended Palmer High School, formally known as the Colorado Springs High School. She worked at several dry-cleaning businesses in town, pressing clothes and as a seamstress. She made all her own clothes and clothes for others. She was a master seamstress. The designs and colors of the clothes that she made were elegant and eye catching. She spent her younger adult years socializing at the clubs on post at Fort Carson, the Cotton Club, and the Elks Club. Elizabeth was a member of the Peoples United Methodist Church. She attended the church with her family as a child and as an adult. She was happy when she was singing in the choir. Elizabeth loved to cook and would not let you leave her home without eating some of her food. It saddened her when she was no longer able to cook or drive her car.
Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Florine Mitchell of Colorado Springs. Elizabeth is also survived by her two loving sons, Quinton Turner and Gilman Turner, who both miss their mother dearly. Elizabeth's surviving grandchildren are, Lishanna Langley, Aaron Turner, Amber Dockery, Antonio Turner, Tonia Ellis, and Anton Turner. There are many great-grandchildren, niece and nephews who survive.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Otwell Grice, and Albirdie (Peak) Grice; brothers, Arthur Otwell Grice Jr., Vernon (Pete) Grice, Albert Grice, Melvin Grice, Manuel Grice, Edgar Grice Benjamin Grice, and Daniel Grice; sisters, Melba Grice, and Alice Lovett.
