Elizabeth Ann Canino

Elizabeth "Betsy" Canino of Warwick, RI passed away at age 74 in her home on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Fargo, North Dakota to John and Bernice Hagen, her family moved across the midwest before settling in Sunnyvale, California. She moved to Boston in the late 1970's where she met the love of her life, Frank Canino. Betsy and Frank moved to Rhode Island in 1989 and stayed for the next 37 years.

Betsy brought light and laughter into every space. She was caring and supportive to everyone she met and demonstrated her love for others with astounding generosity. Betsy was a talented Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Director, retiring after 48 years in medicine. She was a vibrant and energetic soul. She loved to read, spend time in nature, create art, sing, and travel. Most of all, she loved her family and friends.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Dr. Frank Canino, her son, Dr. Jonathan Canino, her daughter, Ali Canino, her daughter-in-law, Dr. Stephanie Guertin, her son-in-law, Patrick McDaniel, and her sweetest 3 year old grandson, Milo McDaniel. She is also survived by her two younger brothers, Steve Hagen and Daniel Hagen. Betsy leaves behind a legacy of bravery, kindness and compassion; all who knew her are stronger because of her love.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Service on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 11am in Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1817 Warwick Ave., Warwick. In lieu of flowers, Betsy wished to have donations made in her honor to the Sioux YMCA in Dupree, South Dakota, 224 6th St., P.O.
