Elizabeth "Liz" Rose Carr, nee Newman of Yucaipa, CA passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 at the age of 88 years and 5 months. She was born October 26, 1937 in Wellston, OH to William Joseph Newman and Elizabeth Martha Bamer Newman.
During her service time in the U. S. Air Force, she met James "Jim" Rodney Carr and they were united in marriage on February 17, 1957 at Travis Air Force Base in California and to this union three sons were born.
Liz served honorably in the Air Force from 1956-1957. She and Jim lived in California for a number of years, in Springfield, MO and back to his home in Steelville for a while. They later moved back to California to be nearer their family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Newman; her husband, Jim Carr; one brother, Joseph (Shirley) Newman; brothers-in-law, Frank Harned, Ray Brooks, Glen (Wanda) Carr, Kermit (Ellenor) Carr, Calvin "Chink" Carr, Ed Carr, Larry Garms and Ralph Luke; sisters-in-law, Virginia (Ted) Norris and Leota (Bob) Land.
She will be sadly missed by her three sons, Mark (Penny) Carr and Peter Carr all of Yucaipa, CA and Gary Carr of San Angelo, TX; one brother, Frank Newman of Wellston, OH; three sisters, Rita Harned of FL, Anna Marie (Bill) Brown of ID and Helen Brooks of KS; sisters-in-law, Carol Carr and Joyce Garms of Steelville, MO and Myrna Luke of Myrtle Beach, SC; four grandchildren; other relatives; and friends.
Services are pending at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Carr Cemetery, Cook Station, MO.
