Elizabeth Ann (Smith) Cassier, age 81, of Wakefield passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on January 20, 2025. 

She was born in Melrose, MA on November 6, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Leonard P. and Elizabeth (Emro) Smith. 

Elizabeth “Beth” was raised in Middleton, MA and graduated from Masconomet Regional High School.

Her childhood years included time spent working on the family dairy farm and cider mill and in her free time she enjoyed playing in the pastures, making huts with her siblings and spending time with her beloved horse, Nelly. As a late teen she started her first office job at Thomas Strahan Wallpaper, before she began working in Administration and Accounting for Pepsi, where she retired after 30+ years. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling across the country, visiting Nova Scotia, vacationing in Aruba and Hawaii, summer trips to Maine and most importantly spending time with her loved ones.

She is survived by and was the cherished mother of James J. Cassier Jr. and his partner, Anne Martin-Belliveau of Revere, Kristine M. Cassier of Wakefield and their father James J. Cassier.

She was the adoring “Nana” of Tyler J. Cassier and Emma M. Cassier and they meant the world to her and she was very proud of them. Loving sister to Judith L. Smith, Susan J. Hudson, Nancy V. Ellis, Marla M. Oneil and Heather J. Nichol. She was predeceased by her brothers, Leonard P. Smith Jr. and Johnathan H. Smith. Sister in-law to Jeanne M. Smith-McIsaac and Anne M. Cutter and was “Auntie Beth” to many nieces and nephews as well great nieces and nephews of whom she loved dearly as if they were her own children.

She is also survived by her loving partner, Joe D’Alessandro and her best friend Valerie Bowen.

Beth was extremely caring, loving, compassionate and generous. She was loved by all that knew her, and she will be greatly missed by many.

Funeral Service to be held in Middleton Congregational Church, 66 Maple St, Middleton, MA on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at 1:30 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. 

Flowers may be delivered directly to the church on the morning of the service only. Please contact the family for Saturday delivery options. 

Burial to be held in the spring/summer at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield, MA

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
